Ministry Profile: Family Services

Description of program: A department of The Salvation Army Bracebridge & Gravenhurst are designed to be a practical fulfillment of the Mission Statement of the Salvation Army to our communities without discrimination.  The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Christ, to meet human need, and to be a transforming influence in our community.  This program encompasses all facets of our service to the community – food bank, emergency services, camping programs, utilities assistance and other community programs and services.

Program objectives: The overall objective of the Family Services department is to meet the physical needs of the poor and marginalized within our community.  We desire to assist them in meeting physical necessities – done out of a desire to serve as Christ served.  Our hope in doing so is that the Love of Christ would be reflected so that our clients may come to know Him.

Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.  There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with others in need.  Deuteronomy 15:10,11
